Fifty years later, Buick's Super line is set to return

Fifty years later, Buick's Super line is set to return
by Auto123.com / Auto123.com
It's a factory model designation that was retired to the history books decades ago. Before the popularity of Mercedes's AMG badge, or BMW's "M" lineup, Buick was offering its customers "Super" badged vehicles which went above and beyond standard models in terms of performance and luxury.

Now fifty years later, the Super badge is set to return. As the American carmaker tries to get its brand moving in China and to recapture some of its lost sales in 2006, the Super line of cars will offer buyers a higher level of performance and style. For now, plans are in place for the LaCrosse / Allure and Lucerne sedans.

Specifics are as of yet unavailable, though expect the brands trademark portholes to be present on the fenders of Super models- hinting possible under-hood upgrades.

The Super models will take a place beside the upcoming Enclave crossover SUV as part of a total effort to re-define the brand with added focus on design and luxury.

It's much the same sort of idea as the revitalization of the Cadillac and Saturn brands- and these lessons are to carry over to Buick- a company which still attracts the oldest car-buyers in the industry with an average age of 67.
